Welcome!

A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another: just as I have loved you, you also are to love one another. By this all people will know that you are my disciples, if you have love for one another.”

Tyler Heineck

Tyler is currently a two stripe purple belt in Brazilian Jiujitsu (BJJ). He is an avid BJJ practitioner and teacher, and is always trying to learn something from this martial art. Tyler also loves strategy games, the outdoors, fitness, and his Lord Jesus Christ. Outside of work hours and (of course) BJJ, Tyler is especially interested in entrepreneurship. He's developed a new habit of reading business books! He hopes to one day own his own business while he currently serves others at his job practicing his leadership and business skills.

Leah Ng

Leah loves creativity; she is an artist. Whether it is food, collages, paintings, photography, sculptures, or even jiujitsu, she loves to learn, create, explore, and move. Leah, like Tyler, loves BJJ, fitness and spending time outdoors. She is all for learning new things, and is working on her upper body strength to be able to do a pronated pullup! Leah is a budding entrepreneur. She recently developed a business plan to begin work as a freelance photographer. Her hope is to be able to glorify God in the photos she takes for others.

Wisconsin is also home to some of the largest waterparks in the country! The Wisconsin Dells is home to Noah's Ark, The Wilderness, and Mt. Olympus, all of these parks are about 1 hour and twenty minutes away from the reception. Below is information to begin your plan to stay at the Dells.

Stay at the Wisconsin Dells

Another option is to rent an Airbnb home nearby. Below you will find available Airbnb's in the Lake Country area.

Rent an Airbnb

Oconomowoc is situated in between Madison (MSN, 50min from venue) and Milwaukee (MKE, 41 min from venue) airports. Leah strongly believes MKE is the best option to travel by plane (closer + Madison is in called "MADtown" for a reason=CRAZYtown).

What to Wear & Bring

Wisconsin is known for its unpredictable weather: rain, snow, or sunshine! Please make sure to plan on checking the weather a week before you arrive and pack accordingly. Below is a link to Oconomowoc's 10 day weather forecast.

Check the Weather here!

Our reception theme is "beach picnic." We are on the lakefront and directly next to the city beach. For dress-code, we ask that you aim for your outfit to resemble "beach casual." Be prepared to both have your picture taken and play outdoor games at your leisure. If you need ideas of what to wear/bring, click the help button below. Rashguards are okay, too!

Help! I don't know what to WEAR.

We love being outside together playing some sort of game. Feel free to bring your favourite yard or group game with you. If you have ideas or wish to help setup a game click below and drop us some ideas.

Drop the ideas on the RSVP (2nd page)
What to Do

While planning your trip to visit us in Oconomowoc, Wisconsin, be sure to check out some of the local activities happening the same weekend!

Oconomowoc Fall Festival Info

Another option to explore while you are here is the historic "third ward" located 40 minutes away from the venue in Milwaukee. It's a touristy area with tons of museums, authentic restaurants, and things to do. We recommend the MKE Art Museum, Jewish Museum of MKE, Lakefront Brewery Cheese Curds, and the MKE Public Market (make sure to taste test the Olive Oils, ha).

Milwaukee's Historic Third Ward

Nearby are several beautiful parks to walk and hike on, and some bigger state park hiking trails like Devil's Lake (near Wisconsin Dells) or the Ice Age Trails of Lapham Peak park (local, nearby in Delafield).

Devil's Lake
Lapham Peak

...and many more outdoorsy activities like Old World WI, too!

August 12, 2022 Competition Class

Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu

August 12, 2022

Our first time meeting each other was as partners during a wrestling takedown drill at Open Guard Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu's competition class (pictured). This was Leah's second week at the gym, and Tyler was recently promoted to his second stripe as a blue belt.

Calvary Connect

March 4, 2023

After Saturday BJJ class and open mat, Leah spontaneously invited Tyler to a young adult fellowship group at her church called, "Connect." Through conversation, Leah learned that Tyler was a Christian, too, and knew some of her former classmates.

Lake Country Young Adults

June 13, 2023

Tyler invited Leah to his young adult group where she reconnected with old classmates and friends. They played a funny game of "Interference" where each person write's a prompt on a stack of paper and passes it right to the next person who draws. It's like the classic game of telephone, yet it involves interpretive drawing!

Leah's roommate Lexie went to this group, too, and invited her to go to the beach day event later that summer (pictured left).

Broken Knee & Fight Night

August 26, 2023

Tyler, Leah, and Krysten were going to carpool to the Waukesha Expo Center to watch Open Guard Competitors compete in their fights.  Leah decided to play soccer at the Alumni game earlier that day shortly after Open Mat. Within the first few minutes of playing, she tore her left ACL.

Luckily, she had prior experience tearing her right ACL two years before to manage this situation, and her roommate Krysten is a nurse and helped bandaged her up. Krysten and Leah left the soccer game early and headed out. Tyler ended up becoming the driver of the carpool to fight night.

The Handshake

September 2024 - Onward

Tyler and Leah talked a lot that summer. One evening shortly after Grappling Industries, Tyler asked Leah to be his girlfriend, and they shook hands on their new relationship.
(Pictured left is a reenactment of the handshake).

The Proposal

December 1, 2024

On Sunday morning before church, Tyler asked if Leah wanted to go for a walk in the park before church, you know, to do something different. She said, "Of course, I like adventures!" and off they went.

It was freezing cold with a high of 9 degrees at Nashotah Park (and that's not including wind chill). They walked along, and discovered to Tyler's dismay that the trail did not lead next to the partially frozen lake. On the way back, Leah noticed that Tyler seemed to stop walking at the crossroads of the trail behind her. She took a look behind, and there was Tyler on one knee. "Leah, I want to do more adventures with you. Will you marry me?"
Leah (literally) cried with joy, and through emotional sobs, said, "Yes!"

A New Year's Eve Wedding

December 31, 2024

With only thirty days until the end of the year, Tyler and Leah decided they wanted to get married. Why wait? Why not start this new adventure sooner, and begin this new journey at the start of the new year? They discussed this months prior that long engagements really made no sense. Plus, Leah really liked the 12/31 date and the idea of getting married on New Year's Eve! They knew they wanted to be together and the engagement settled it; they were going to be wed before year's end. Despite all the work, marriage counseling, and dress deliberations, Tyler and Leah made it work with less than 30 days preparation. Yet, they would not have been able to do so without the support and help of both their families, friends, and Pastor and Mrs. Loggans. They are forever grateful for their love and support!

At two o'clock in the afternoon on Tuesday, December thirty-first, twenty twenty four, in the presence of a small gathering of immediate family, Tyler and Leah married. Duh duh dahhhh!

We started making supreme topping loaded pizzas at Tyler's suggestion. It's a fun activity to do together!

IMG_5648

Sparring

We often play fight, and tend to practice boxing or jiujitsu moves together. This was when Tyler was practicing Brown Belt curriculum at his brother Justin's apartment in Whitewater. He was demonstrating a move with Leah from standing.

Pottery

We forgot to take a photo when we were at the Potter's Shop so we improvised and made a decoration and a pottery bowl out of paper to remember the new experience!

First Photo

Tyler suggested to take their first photo when Chris had invited friends over from the jiujitsu gym (Flora and James).

Tyler is seen with a dart that somehow got stuck into the wall (Oops!). He wasn't the first one to do so...Leah might have done it a few times before this photo (ha!).

Go Kart Racing

The Friday before Leah's surgery, Tyler took Leah on a date to a high-speed GoKart track. It was also the night Leah met Tyler's parents while they were first dating. They stopped at their house to change from fancy clothes into casual clothes for racing.

Ice Skating

In March, Tyler and Leah reconnected with friends Kseniya, Faythe and Reed. They met a new friend, Gilbert, too!

IMG_5685

Ohio Friends

Tyler encouraged Leah to go visit her friend Julia in Ohio! They planned a road trip to surprise Julia at her Wedding Shower! The trip was a huge improvised glamping success! Julia and Manny are pictured here with Tyler and Leah at church!

IMG_1350

Roommates

Occasionally, we would see Tyler's roommate Chris outside his room. This was one of those rare occurrences (pictured). We also planned a game night at my house with friends and met up with our roommates at young adult events (Not pictured).

Handicap

The first few weeks after Leah's knee surgery, Tyler and other friend's would push her around in a wheelchair to go get her groceries!

Sunset Motorcycle Ride

The night before Leah's surgery, Tyler took Leah on a motorcycle ride to help get her nerves out and take her mind off the imminent knife. She had a lot of fun!

Rainy Nights

Tyler and Leah seem to get caught in the rain a lot. They actually chose to go out in the rain on purpose to catch some Pokemon during a downpour. It was a nice quiet strum of rain as they strolled along the Oconomowoc boardwalk.

The Wilderness

Tyler's family invited Leah to their annual Wisconsin Dells trip last year. It was a blast!

Registry

For our registry we decided to give our family and friends a few options to help us with some of our current big purchase goals we are saving and budgeting for. We have three main goals: 1) Go on a Honeymoon, 2) Save for a down-payment on a house, 3) Adopt a puppy!

We have most, if not all, the essential household items we need from previous gifts from when we moved out of the house and were living on our own before we met. We are purposely deciding not to buy too many big new pieces of furnishings, since we are currently living in an apartment complex and want to minimize our accumulation of larger physical items before we move out (potentially) next spring into a new home, Lord willing! It's not necessarily traditional, yet as Grandma Susie would have advocated, "I'll just give you money, so you can get exactly what you want!" On the WithJoy website you will find a few separate cash funds to help us save for these bigger purchase goals 🙂

If you would like to gift us something physical, we would LOVE something like a handmade card or letter with any advice or stories you can write or tell us about your marriage personally or anything that could help us with our future goals (see below). Anything that you believe would be an encouragement or help to us will be a goldmine of treasure for us to glean and use in our lives moving forward together!

Otherwise, we have a few physical items on the WithJoy Registry list and ideas for gifts. We like board games and card games, outdoor games, Brazilian JiuJitsu, and everything in between! Outside of group games, we are reading more and have a few books on our registry that we wouldn't mind having a personal copy of a few books. Feel free to buy any of these registry items elsewhere if you find a better deal. I believe under each item there is a option that says "Mark as Purchased" so you can let others know that you've bought it elsewhere.

Our  Goals

Honeymoon

We have yet to take our honeymoon! Our plan is to travel to Italy after the reception. Currently, we are researching what we would like to do while we are abroad, and the sites we would like to see. This will be Tyler's first time outside the country, and his first international plane ride!  Any suggestions, Italy advice, or general travel advice is most welcome!

Health & Fitness

We have several health and fitness goals that we are working on right now! Broadly, we are working on following a consistent fitness, sleep, and eating plan schedule. Both of us are working on building muscle. Leah is focused on regaining lost muscle from her surgeries and injury prevention, and Tyler is focused on building muscle mass and leg flexibility to hopefully help his jiujitsu game and prevent back injury. If you would like to share with us any health tips or fitness related things that you are working on to improve yourself, we would like to hear about it, too!

House

Early next year, We will start the search to find our first starter home, and we are currently saving for a down-payment. We are not 100% sure where the Lord will lead us, yet we are open to suggestions and advice on locations, general real estate advice, and anything you can tell use on first-time house buying.

Photography & Entrepreneurship

We are very interested in business creation and entrepreneurship! Besides filling our minds with loads of business content and development strategies, Leah is working on a business plan for her photography business that Tyler is helping her develop. She photographed IAG's 40th Anniversary Symposium Event this past May, and looks forward to enhancing her skills in capturing memories. If you have any helpful business book suggestions, entrepreneurship

experiences,  or business advice or tips that you can pass along to us, we would love it!

Husky (Puppy)

We lovers love dogs! We would love to be able to adopt a puppy (or two) later this year or early spring 2026. Tyler really likes huskies and their big personalities, and Leah likes a variety of dog breeds and is especially interested in Collies and Belgian Tervurens. We are both open to mixed breeds and rescues, too, when we begin our search! Let us know if you have anyone in mind who breeds puppies or shelters that you trust that you can recommend to us 🙂

Faith & Finding Community

One of our biggest goals is centers around building our relationship together with Jesus. We are praying for his will in our search for a church or Christian community that we can fellowship and serve alongside, besides learning and developing personally into the people God designed us to be despite sin. What advice or experiences can you pass on to us on following God's will or things you do as a couple to strengthen your spiritual relationship with each other?

Join us to Celebrate

Please reserve before August 2, 2025. Let us know you're coming 🙂
